Power Plant Environmental Chemistry (PPEC) Meeting, EPRI
March 30 - April 1
Unless prevented as a result of travel or conference restrictions due to Coronavirus, Mr. Bartholomew plans to provide the following presentation on April 1, 2020
Predicting Effects of Condensate Contamination
Condensate contamination can come from various sources during operation. The main source for facilities with water cooled condensers typically is a condenser tube leak although there can be other sources of untreated water or other contaminants. Some water supplies will cause the boiler/evaporator water pH to increase and some will cause the boiler/evaporator water pH to decrease. The presentation will provide guidance for predicting the effects on the condensate and boiler/evaporator chemistry. The goal is to understand the cause of the upset in order to help select proper responses to the upset.
