Deposit Composition Analyses

STPA laboratory has the expertise to handle and analysis deposit samples from a variety of systems and equipment; such as: the steam/water cycles (HRSG units, boilers, deaerators, turbines, etc.), cooling water systems (towers, condensers, piping, etc.), makeup water systems, bottom ash systems, boiler and HRSG fireside, etc. Many laboratories are limited to being able to only perform SEM/EDXS analyses for deposit samples, which is necessarily a semi-quantitative method. STPA also performs and has extensive experience with quantitative analyses of deposit samples (i.e., digestion in acids) compared to standards on an atomic absorption spectrophotometer. This has been found to be particularly useful for ensuring an accurate assessment of deposit composition prior to chemical cleanings.
